Coming in September:

Aromatherapy tips.

Stay cool this summer with simlple aromatherapy.  Try this one.   To one ounce unscented lotion eight drops of peppermint,  ten drops of spearmint, and five drops of eucalyptus essential oils.   Combine well (a small bead in the bottle will help to mix the blend thoroughly) and apply as desired.  Mints are cooling and refreshing.  Great for beating the heat.

For relief from nasty fly and mosquito bites try this convenient home-made remedy.  In a small roller bottle combine equal parts of lavender, tea tree and peppermint essential oils.  Apply to the itchy, inflamed area to soothe irritation, stop the itch, and promote healing.  It's okay to apply these essential oils neat (undiluted) since you are applying it to such small areas.  Lavender soothes the itch, heals and disinfects.   Tea tree heals and disinfects.  Peppermint cools the inflammation and brings relief from itching.

Herbal tips

If you have trouble relaxing and settling down for the night, try this simple tea.  Combine equal parts of skullcap, blue vervain, and passionflower.  One quarter cup of each is a good measure to start with.   For a cup of tea use two teaspoons of the blend per cup of boing water.  Sweeten with stevia herb (just a tiny little pinch) or honey and enjoy the calm and relaxation that these nervines can bring.
